All registered Athletes can compete in a variety of Carnivals and Events run throughout the season. Check our website, noticeboard or Facebook page or see our team manager on Friday Nights for more information.

We encourage all our Athletes to participate and represent our Centre. It is a great way to meet other Athletes from our region and compete in a carnival atmosphere.

If you are nominating for any Regional carnivals or competitions you MUST give a copy of the nomination form to our either Centre Manager or by emailing it to

Association Regional Competitions for 2020-2021

Maroochy is in the Region of SunCoast as defined by the State Association. Centres in the SunCoast Region include:  Bribie Island, Bli Bli, Caboolture, Caloundra, Cooloola Coast, Deception Bay, Glasshouse Districts, Gympie, Maleny, Maroochy, Nambour, Noosa, South Burnett, University and Wamuran.

There are 2 Regional meets each season the first being the Regional Relays which is held in November each year and the second is Regional Championships held in February each year.

Regional Relays – Saturday 7 November 2020 is hosted by Caboolture Centre at their home grounds at Wolfenden Oval, Caboolture.

This is the only competition throughout the season where athletes compete as a team. Teams are made up of 4 athletes in the track events and 2 in the field events. Maroochy Centre athletes are not required to pay a nomination fee as this has been covered in their registration fee.

Athletes in the Under 7 – Under 17 age groups who have fully paid membership fees are eligible and ENCOURAGED to compete in this competition. Athletes in the Under 9 – Under 17 age groups whose team qualifies 1st – 3rd at the Regional Relays qualify to compete at State Relays held in December. Athletes in the Under 7 and Under 8 age groups do not progress to State Relays.

LAQ McDonalds State Relays – Saturday 12 December 2020, SAF Nathan

Regional Championships – 6 and 7 February 2021 is hosted by Deception Bay Centre at their home grounds  at Zammit Park in Deception Bay.

Nominations are open to all athletes in the Under 7 – Under 17 age groups. Athletes in the Under 7 and Under 8 age groups do not progress to State Championships. The number of qualifying athletes that may nominate from the Regional Championships to State Championships is the first four (4) placegetters in each event.

This is an individuals championship event and medals are presented to athletes placed 1st – 3rd in each event for the Under 9 – Under 17 age groups.  Under 7 and Under 8’s are presented with a participation medal at Regionals.

  1. In Walks events there is a time limit to be met by athletes to be eligible to compete at State Championships Athletes who have not met the LAQ criteria shall not proceed to State Championships.
  2. In High Jump at Centre level there is no specific starting heights however there are specific starting heights at Association Competitions and these can be found on the LAQ website in the Competition Handbook.
